Mameko Maeda

마에다 마메코(b.1993)는 디지털 회화의 점, 선과 컬러를 회화로 끌어들여 현대적인 미감을 보여주고 있다. 어려서부터 배운 현대무용과 재즈댄스의 영향을 받아 몸을 이용한 표현에 관심이 많았던 작가는 무용의 동작에서 발생하는 신체의 긴장감과 주름을 작품의 소재로 하여 신체의 팽창과 수축으로 표현되는 경쾌한 캐릭터를 탄생시켰다. 촘촘한 점으로 완성되는 역동적인 신체 라인은 단순하게 표현된 일관적인 표정에 변주를 주며 이 핑크빛 사랑스러운 캐릭터에 유머러스함을 더한다. 현재 작가는 일본 도쿄를 넘어 세계를 무대로 활동 영역을 넓혀가고 있다.

Mameko Maeda (b.1993) is showing a modern aesthetic by incorporating the dots, lines, and colors of digital painting into her paintings. Influenced by the modern dance and jazz dance she learned from a young age, the artist was interested in expression using the body, and used the tension and wrinkles of the body that arise from dance movements as the subject matter of her work. She created a character expressed through expansion and contraction of the body. The dynamic body line, complete with dots, adds variation to the simple, consistent facial expression and adds humor to this lovely pink character. Mameko Maeda is currently expanding beyond Tokyo, Japan, to the world.
